Commodore’s Corner
Greetings to all South Norwalk Boat Club Captains. Well, another month has gone by, and another major snowstorm has occurred. Just as we started to see grass, we became buried again. I cannot thank our volunteers and members enough for the great job they have done keeping the Club clean and accessible. We all have such busy lives and commitments, yet people still find the time to help out. That’s what makes the Club such a special place. You can always find someone to assist when needed. With such a tough snow season it is hard to believe that the marina will open in just four and a half short weeks. The Marina Committee is already working hard to get us up and running as soon as possible so we can start getting back to what we all love.
February saw another great Pasta Night at the Club. The crew works so hard every time to put on the event, and everyone enjoys it so much. The last Pasta Night of the year will be on March 31st. If you haven’t made it down for one, this will be your last chance until fall. We also have a number of other events occurring throughout the month. Trivia Night will be back on March 12th and there will be a special St. Patrick’s Day menu on March 15th. Derby Night to benefit our Scholarship Foundation will happen on March 28th. Such an exciting event. If you plan to attend, make sure you get your tickets early as it always sells out fast. Additionally, scholarship applications are now available at the Club. You can either pick one up at the Monday night meeting or at any time behind the bar. Please note that all scholarship applications are due back by April 20th so don’t miss out. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be happening on April 4th. Also, on the night of April 4th, we will be hosting a Disco Night in the ballroom. No tickets are required and it is open to all.
In addition to our special events, we will have entertainment on the nights of March 7th, 13th and 20th. After being stuck at home with all this snow, it makes for a great time to get out and do some socializing. Weekly dinner specials will be available as well as some seasonal cocktails at the bar. I know we are all waiting for the warmer weather, but enjoying your Club now will make the time go by so much faster. As always, your Board is here for anything you need so do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you all and see you around the Club.
Best Regards to Everyone,
Jonathan Bove, Commodore
