Commodore’s Corner

Greetings to all South Norwalk Boat Club Captains.  The first month of 2026 has now gone by and with it has come a great deal more snow.  I cannot remember the last time we had this much snow this early in the season.  All we can do now is hope that this will be the end instead of a sign of things to come.  January saw our first two winter events go off without a hitch.  Both Trivia Night and Pasta Night were a great success, and a wonderful time was had by all.  There will also be Pasta Nights in February and March, with another Trivia Night taking place in March as well.  Details will be announced to the membership once the dates have been set.  We have also been looking ahead and scheduling some dates for when the weather warms up.  Our annual Commodore’s Dance will be held on May 16th.  Commissioning weekend will be June 5th-7th with the Clam Bake happening on the 5th so mark your calendars.  With such a successful Clam Bake last year I can hardly wait for what is to come.   Also don’t forget about Night at the Derby on March 28th and breakfast with the Easter Bunny on April 4th.  Both are great times and additional opportunities for you to come down and enjoy your Club.

As a reminder to all members, the last day to pay your dues and other fees was January 31st.  Anyone who has not paid by now will be subject to a late fee.  All outstanding Club obligations, along with any additional fees that may have been incurred, must be paid by February 28th or your membership may be at risk.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or Financial Secretary Diane Smilancsky for assistance.

Don’t forget to check the Club calendar for our upcoming entertainment on the weekends.  Bands will be performing on Friday or Saturday nights, and it is a great reason to come and enjoy the Club while we all wait for warmer weather.  Best wishes to everyone for a safe rest of the winter and see you around the Club.

Best Regards to Everyone,

Jonathan Bove, Commodore
