Commodore’s Corner
Greetings to all South Norwalk Boat Club Captains. As we begin our 126th year, I would like to first thank the membership for electing me as your next Commodore. This is not a job or responsibility I take lightly so words cannot express the honor I feel that you have put your faith in me. I promise to work just as diligently as I always have for the needs of the membership and the betterment of the Club. The SNBC is a place for all and my job as Commodore is to ensure it remains that way. By honoring our traditions and growing for the future, together we can continue our proud history of being the best boat club on Long Island Sound.
I would like to take a moment to thank our outgoing Commodore Clyde Mount. For those of you that have done extensive volunteering over the years, you know that there is much work that happens in the background to meet the wants and needs of the membership that many people don’t see. PC Mount has never shied away from doing the work and taking on the jobs for the betterment of the Club. He has spent countless hours working to build the Club into the place it is today and his contributions will be felt for many years to come. Thank you again Clyde for all your hard work!
Next, I would like to congratulate the newly elected Board of Governors for 2026. They are Vice Commodore Don Remson, Rear Commodore Bill Bodie, Financial Secretary Diane Smilancsky, Treasurer Rick McQuaid, Recording Secretary Paul Hiller, and Board members Russell Lajoie, Randy Blosio, John Daher, Reggie Borgia, Lewis Avrick, and PC Clyde Mount. Speaking for the Board I can say that we are all very excited about the upcoming year. The Board’s first responsibility is to the membership so please do not hesitate to come to us with any questions/comments/concerns that you may have. We will all be working very hard to make the Club the best place it can be.
As we enter the winter season, there are already a few events on the calendar. The Kids Christmas Party will be the morning of December 7th followed by the Adult Holiday Party later in the afternoon. There will also be two Holiday Haberdashery Showcases on December 4th and December 7th for you to get any gifts you may need. There is also entertainment on the weekends for everyone to enjoy. With the boats out of the water and the temperatures dropping, we will be working on some events for the membership in the upcoming months to keep everyone engaged during the cold winter months.
In closing, I would once again like to thank the membership for allowing me the privilege of being your next Commodore. The South Norwalk Boat Club has always been a special place for me, and I am very excited to begin this new chapter. Happy holidays to all and I will see you around the Club.
Best Regards to Everyone,
Commodore Jonathan Bove
