Commodore’s Corner
Greetings to all South Norwalk Boat Club Captains. After waiting all winter long for the summertime, it is hard to believe that we are already in August. Time goes by so quickly. Thankfully for the most part the weather has been good. With lots of boating and other outdoor events, it is good to see everyone taking as much advantage as they can. Weekends at the Club have been very busy and the Tiki area is in full swing. With so much going on in everyone’s busy lives, the continued support and involvement people always show to make our Club the best around is just incredible.
While August is typically the time that many people take their summer vacations, there is still a packed calendar of Club events for everyone to enjoy. Our next cookout will be held on August 4th. The crew has done a great job with the cookouts all summer long so if you have not made it to one yet, come down to enjoy some great food. On August 9th, we will be having an Island Night at the Tiki. Tropical music and a Hawaiian shirt contest will be a fun way to round out the weekend. August 18th will be the next cookout night, and it will be a big one. In addition to the cookout, the Scholarship Committee will be doing their Cruise Night. Bring down your classic vehicle to show it off and talk cars with your fellow members. If that wasn’t enough for one evening, we will also be doing a salute to veterans and first responders with music by Gunsmoke. All veterans and first responders will get to eat for free as a thank you for all you have done and continue to do. The annual Kids Snapper Tournament will be held on the morning of August 23rd. Always a great event for our next generation of Captains. The day will continue with our Family Day at the Club. There will be lots of games, activities and food for everyone to enjoy. The price is $20.00 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. To close out the month, we will be having our rendezvous at Milford Landing from August 28-30. Whether you will be taking the boat for the weekend or simply driving up for a day of fun with your fellow members, a good time is always had by all.
In addition to all our great Club events, we also have a full calendar of entertainment. It is the perfect way to start or end the weekend with friends. As summer is unfortunately coming to a close, it is important to enjoy every minute while we can. With so much happening at the Club in August, there is no better way to round out the season. Wishing you all the best for warm days and will see you around the Club.
Best Regards to Everyone,
Jonathan Bove, Commodore
