🎓 The Johnny Rogers Scholarship Program

Investing in the Future of Our SNBC Families

In 1993, Past Commodore Johnny Rogers proposed an idea that would leave a lasting impact on generations of SNBC families — the creation of a scholarship program to support the college education of our members’ children. His vision was to recognize and reward students not only for their academic excellence, but also for their involvement in the community and contributions to the Club.

What began with just $1,100 awarded to three students has since grown into a deeply rooted tradition of generosity and support. Thanks to the hard work of PC Rogers and PC Joe Pappolla, past and present Scholarship Committee members — many of whom are long-standing SNBC captains, commodores, and educators— and the remarkable bequest from Captain Jake Straub, the program now awards approximately $25,000 annually to students entering any year of college.

Since its founding, the program has proudly awarded over 200 scholarships totaling more than $200,000 — a testament to the Club’s dedication to its members and their families.

We invite all members and supporters to help us continue this legacy. Contributions — large or small — ensure that we can continue to support the academic journeys of deserving students for years to come.
